The Galapagos Islands

This trip undertaken in May/June 2017 was amazing. Our cruise was for 5 nights around the South Eastern part of the Galapagos Islands. We had stops at San Cristobal, Espanola, Floreana, Sante Fe, South Plaza, North Seymour, Baltra and Mosquera. Each island had something different to offer.

These islands are up to 30 to 40 miles away from each other, but as the boat only moved large distances overnight, we had full days to explore the islands. We also had the opportunity to do some snorkelling and I have included a few photographs taken with a small waterproof camera. I did not manage to photograph the Galapagos shark in the water as I was distracted.

As is well known, the wildlife is remarkably tame and they largely ignore human presence and so are much easier to photograph. The government of Ecuador controls access to the Galapagos Islands very tightly and you can only visit with an approved guide. Our guides were fantastic with great knowledge of the animals and area.
